Seasonal Planner

There are many good reasons for buying local food when it's in season. Freshness and flavour are top of that list and, when produce is at its most abundant, it is also at its cheapest. Following the seasons brings you a delicious sense of pleasure when your favourite product comes into season.

Buying seasonally from UK producers also brings considerable environmental benefits, in terms of lower production costs and carbon emissions and less food miles.
The chart below tells you when produce is in season, when it is in storage and when it is available but carries higher production costs, for example, when soft fruit is grown under glass.

Seasonality data kindly provided by the North East Centre of Excellence.
