Are you "Local to London" with regional food on your agenda?
Then you are invited to join the “Local to London” part of 3 year project funded by New Covent Garden Market and the South East Food Group Partnership aiming to promote more regional and local food into London's eateries, homes and the public sector.
What Local to London is looking for: Businesses, organisations and individuals to increase their consumption towards more regional, local and seasonal food and as such “Pledge: Aspiring to go Local to London”. As our project develops we see this pledge being further refined, but for now we just want “A Pledge: Aspiring to go Local to London”. Hopefully we’ll create even more local food champions, as we believe local food is best. We’re not trying to stop people buying a banana or mango, but buying things like apples grown as near as possible, when available and affordable. Aims of Local to London: The aim of Local to London is to facilitate increased the level of regional and local food available and consumed in London. This will be achieved through a number of activities, including the creation of a “Local to London Club” (LLC). Members will need to commit to increasing the availability and/or use of regionally and locally produced food. This increased use and availability of local food will be assisted by: 1. Sign postings of members’ interests in promoting and using regional and local food through our website and the opportunity to be included on those of some of our associated organisations, when appropriate. 2. Networking opportunities across London, the South East and East of England and beyond. Linking to regional government bodies, campaign groups and industry bodies. 3. Access to Meet the Buyer events, farm visits, trade shows and public events. 4. Assistance sourcing regional and local food via the Local to London Team. 5. Quarterly Newsletters updates. 6. Access to projects publications and research as when it becomes available. Cost of Membership: Corporate membership: £125 turnover below £1m, £225 above £1m Introductory membership offers available to CGMA tenants, SEFGP members and some other Associated Organisations. For more information please contact the SEFGP office on Tel: 02392 452288.
